Do you love interior design and you are fascinated by art at the same time? Then, Interior Design is perfect choice for you. You will meet both theoretical, as well as practical rules governing this profession and broaden your horizons in terms of artistic and technical aspects.

Graduates of Interior Design at UEM perfectly find their place on the job market, they work with renowned furniture companies. They participate in design fairs and they often start their own companies dealing with furniture and interior design, as well as design.

During your studies you will have an access to modern studios, among others: Architectural Design, Virtual Building Design and Landscape Design. The studios are equipped with computers, graphic tablets, 3D manipulators and other necessary tools.

Architecture at UEM is the course conducted in the spirit of ecology which is one of the greatest architectural challenges of the 21st century. You will gain knowledge about methods of using ecological materials which is in line with current market trends.

The lecturers are the strength of UEM’s Interior Design; they are outstanding teachers and specialists, winners of many prestigious awards and distinctions who have presented their works at numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. With their help, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills.

UEM combines both aspects of Interior Design – technical and artistic. Thanks to this, you do not have to choose between them, as you will receive a complete education in each field. This will give you an advantage on the modern job market and will enable you to take up interesting postgraduate studies.

Scope of studies

Scope of studies
While studying Interior Design at UEM (WSEiZ) you will gain practical and theoretical knowledge about:

the process of project implementation with particular emphasis on relationships: context-architecture and human-architecture,

history of art and architecture with particular emphasis on the architecture of building interiors, garden and park interiors and decorative arts,

old and new techniques, as well as materials and products used in shaping, furnishing and decorating interiors,

choice and selection of elements and materials, as well as colour solutions for new projects and for adaptation and revalorisation,

knowledge of basic spatial composition in interiors and the landscape,

awareness of multilateral responsibility and professional ethics, necessary knowledge of regulations and standards,

principles of cooperation with state administration units, local authorities, institutions, organisations, companies,

cooperation with industry engineers, but also landscape architects, artists, folk artists, stage designers, conservators, psychologists, agreeing solutions with fire protection specialists, discussing sanitary and hygienic issues, occupational health and safety,

methodology of creating the whole project – from collecting and compiling information, through conception to execution documentation, the ability to coordinate industries,

the ability to efficiently produce high quality projects within a specified budget and time frame, the ability to use bills of quantities, estimates, comparisons, and schedules,

basic knowledge of contemporary and innovative technologies used in design, construction and exploitation, for example digital techniques, ‘intelligent’ systems and modern integrated energy systems.

Perspectives

Interior architects find work, among others:

  • in design offices and development companies,
  • in local government offices at all levels,
  • design companies,
  • in scenography design, film and theatre production or advertising,
  • in the organisation of exhibitions and trade fairs,
  • in conservation studios.

You will also be able to set up your own business related to interior design or to find work outside Poland.

Patryk Góźdź – was the only Pole to make it to the finals of the young talent exhibition at the Milan Design Fair. He presented there his prototypes of a chair – Reve, a table – iCONi and a floor lamp – think. His tables from the iCONi collection presented at the Milan fair are sold by the well-known furniture manufacturer – Kler.

Iwona Dłutek-Radecka i Marusz Glezner – founded the design studio Wooow projekt! They specialise in designing furniture made of ecological bamboo panels and slats in cooperation with Kopp and in interior design and design. With their projects they have participated, among others, in the Warsaw Design Fair “WZORY”, ART MARKET POLAND Fair, DOM MIESZKANIE WNĘTRZE Fair and in the exhibition of young designers DOMIDAY “Zielono mi” which took place in the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw.

Konrad Brynda i Paulina Dyłka – founded the design company KP Produkcja Archi-Tektury which designs furniture, interiors, industrial designs and provides turnkey finishing services for real estate. They participated in the Warsaw Design Fair “WZORY” where they presented seats made of architectural concrete, as well as furniture and accessories designed in the spirit of ecology and sustainable development.

Marcin Skubisz – runs the Marcin Skubisz Group. He is involved in design, artistic carpentry and renovation of historical furniture. He carries out orders for unique paintwork and stylistic changes on cars, motorbikes and other functional forms. He cooperates with industry, focusing on furniture design for such brands as Clasen Polska, Philip Bohr and Felt Stories. He qualified with two projects to the finals of the Warsaw Build competition.
